  12.     This version addresses all of the upgrade issues we had with

  15.         After testing with the windows installer we concluded that
  16.         1. There are still too many users without the windows installer.
  17.         2. Installing the installer runtime is a major download.
  18.         3. Many users did not know what to do with an .msi file
  19.     2. Import/export/save dialogs no longer worked with C++7. Fixed
  20.     3. EraserD was compiled with VC8 which we did not have so after
  21.        scouring the net the digital mars compiler was found. See
  22.        www.digitalmars.com this is a great product works with WIN32 as
  23.        well. I was amazed that we could recompile with little effort.For
  24.        the dos version many users have asked for the ability to bootup
  25.        a machine and erase it from the floppy.
  26.        We are experimenting with creating a FAT32 boot disk using
  27.        FreeDOS see http://www.freedos.com this would allow you to
  28.        erase > 2gig partitions.

  30.     1. Fixed corrupted eraserd. Now tested with FreeDOS.
  31.     2. Fixed issue where eraser was not pointing to correct registry
  32.        entries.

  38.     2. (Beta) Eraser can now delete files on reboot - Under schedule task
  39.        set the day to 'Reboot' This is a new feature and will be altered
  40.        and redesigned according to feedback.

  47.     1. Fixes for XP freespace erase. Note: those who found they has 100's
  48.        of random files left in their root dir after a crash can now delete them by
  49.        'del eraser*.*' as they will be called e.g eraser345987f.6fd
  50.     2. system now confirms the overwrite of your scheduler file on install.

  52.     1. Fixed issue with Verify.exe not picking up files.

  54.        Eraser giving (null) when clicking on recycle bin was due to it
  55.        not finding eraser in long installed pathnames.

  60.        A tab with digital signatures will appear. It should verify as OK.

  66.     1. Eraser now includes 'Darik's Boot and Nuke' disk. There is a new
  67.     directory under Eraser called 'boot'.
  68.        To use this option insert a blank floppy in drive A: and execute
  69.        eboot a: or choose
  70.        'Create Nuke Boot Disk on A:' from the start->programs->eraser
  71.        menu items.
  72.        Booting from this disk will now wipe your hard disks. Use with
  73.        extreme caution.
  74.     For a summary:
  75.     'Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN") is a self-contained boot floppy that
  76.     securely
  77.     wipes the hard disks of most computers. DBAN will automatically and
  78.     completely
  79.     delete the contents of any hard disk that it can detect, which makes it

  81.     appropriate utility for bulk or emergency data destruction.'
